HANCOCK COUNTY, Ill. (WGEM) -
A Hancock County woman was injured when a tractor trailer truck hit her car as she was parked on the side of the road.

According to Illinois State Police, Elaine Mathewson, 75, of Sutter, Ill., had just hit a deer on Illinois Route 336 near 1850 E., and was pulled over to the side of the road with her flashers on at around 9:30 Tuesday night.

Officers say Jeffery Drew, 40, of Quincy, tried to pass Mathewson on the west side of the highway, and clipped the rear passenger side of the car.

Mathewson was taken to Memorial Hospital in Carthage with unknown injuries.  Drew was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
