Future of Quincy business up in the air

A Quincy business that just recently opened is running into legal issues with the city.

Representatives from "The Psychic Gallery" near 27th and Broadway say police told the business owners to close.City clerk Jenny Hayden says that's because businesses like this are against city code.

"It does not allow any kind of palm reading, cards, anything that is like occult or a psychic that says 'I can read the future and so forth for you'," Hayden said.

However, the lawyer for "The Psychic Gallery" says it should be able to keep its doors open. They're now working with the city to see what can be done.

"Psychic Gallery has been advised that the city of Quincy has made a determination not to enforce the ordinance until they research the cases I sent, and they will allow and not enforce the ordinance with this business," attorney Curtis Lovelace said.

Lovelace said his client plan to speak in front of Quincy city aldermen in a few weeks to talk about repealing the current city ordinance.
