Adams County drops to #2 for meth lab seizures

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) - After holding the top spot for three years in a row, Adams County has fallen to number two for the most meth lab seizures in Illinois for 2013.

Madison county, which is outside of St. Louis, now leads the state with 80 meth lab seizures. Adams County follows close behind with 72 meth lab seizures.

Despite the decrease, Sergeant Pat Frazier with the West Central Illinois Drug Task Force says meth is still a problem.

"As far as our work here at the task force, 2013 was just as busy as ever," Frazier said. "We seized numerous labs that involved kids, that's a trend that we don't like to see. We do have a heck of a problem with meth and it doesn't seem to be going away."

Along with meth, Sgt. Frazier says his team is also starting to see more crystal meth and heroin in the area.
