"Buster the Bus" teaches kids about bus safety

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) - Quincy school officials are urging kids to be safe around school buses.

"Buster the Bus" visited kids at Madison Elementary on Friday. Buster taught the kids about safety features like the emergency exits in the roof and back doors. Kids also learned to stay alert when walking around the bus.

Bus drivers say safety can't be stressed enough with kids on board.

"We mostly are trying to get them to understand all the rules," Andre Landsom, a Quincy bus driver said. "And to also remind parents to stop for all the rules. Our kids are our best, kind of our best venue to do that."

Landsom says the annual visit from Buster is something all the kids enjoy. The presentation was focused on kindergarten through third graders.
