New extension to get signed up under Affordable Care Act

The Federal Government is extending its deadline for people to get health insurance under the Affordable Care Act.

Instead of having health insurance by March 31st, the government is allowing people an extra few weeks as long as you sign up before the March deadline.  Insurance Navigator Neil Darnell said not all counties in Northeast Missouri are seeing the major rush to get signed up.

"Well we have a pretty good waiting list to begin with and we're working through that in some counties and there are some in other counties that are waiting for people to walk in.  So it really varies just depending on the population of the county and where you're at," Darnell said.

To sign up, you can contact your local insurance navigator or sign up online.
