Maple Grove holds groundbreaking ceremony

CARTHAGE, Ill. (WGEM) - After months of preparations, a new facility in Carthage took its first steps in the building process.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held Sunday at the future site of the Maple Grove Memory Care Unit.
Workers say the new facility will provide twenty-four hour supervision, and fully equipped homes to handle medical concerns, and a community environment.
Hickory Grove Manager, Leia Morrison, said the new memory unit is going to be a huge benefit for both patients and families.

"The benefit is that we see so many individuals with memory care related diseases living at home and it's so detrimental for their families and so difficult," said Morrison. "So this allows them a place to go where they can still maintain dignity, have great quality of life, and still get the services that they need."

Morrison also said they plan on beginning building on May 1st and having the facility open early May 2015.
