Kiwanis Clubs hosts 80th auction

Posted:
HAMILTON, Ill. (WGEM) - Sports souvenirs, themed baskets and other goodies were all on the auction block Sunday.

Over 100 attended an annual Hamilton event that continues to serve the community after 80 years.

The Kiwanis Club held their annual auction to contribute to children in the area.

Local businesses donated hundreds of pieces of merchandise that were auctioned off Sunday.

Those who attended the event were encouraged to bid and said they were eager to help.

Kiwanis Club members said they're proud of the event and the people who come out to support the community.

"I think a lot of the people they realize how important it is," said auctioneer supporter, Holly Morris. "A lot of kids in this area they might not have the Christmases they have, they might not have the support they got without this auction."

Last year the Kiwanis Club gave back around $12,000 to the community.
