Missouri legislature looking to limit unemployment checks

If you're unemployed in Missouri, you could see fewer unemployment checks in the future.

The Missouri legislature is looking to reduce the amount of unemployment checks people can receive from 20 to 13, as long as state unemployment is under six percent.  NECAC officials say for people looking for jobs, this could help them get back on their feet.

"The good news is the businesses are going to benefit from this because they'll have to pay less in unemployment taxes," NECAC spokesperson Brent Engel said. "When they pay less in unemployment taxes, that means they have more money to perhaps hire workers."

Right now, there are roughly 60,000 Missourians receiving unemployment benefits.
