Quincy engineers consider several intersection changes

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) - The city of Quincy's engineering department is considering several road improvement projects.

City engineer Jeffrey Conte says they're looking at some high volume intersections. That includes the four-way stop at 36th and Columbus Road near the Quincy Mall. Conte says his department has been contacted about installing traffic lights.

"There is quite a bit of traffic, and I guess people would feel the traffic would flow better if their was either a stoplight there or some other method of traffic control," Conte said.

Another road project up for consideration is 24th and Harrison, where aldermen say there tends to be traffic back-ups during peak travel times in the morning and evening.

Possible solutions include traffic lights, creating a roundabout or adding turn lanes.
