Car crash leaves one dead and three others injured

LEWIS COUNTY, Mo. (WGEM) - One person is dead and three others are injured after a car crash in Lewis County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol,  23-year-old Kevin Johnston of New London was driving on Highway 6, one mile west of Lewistown,  around 1:30 Sunday afternoon.

Johnston was trying to pass a car when he hit the passenger side of a vehicle driven by 45-year-old Karol Sharpe of Lewistown.

Johnston's passenger, 18-year-old Miranda Martin of Hannibal later died from her injuries. Martin was not wearing her seatbelt.

Both drivers and a 13-year-old passenger were taken to Blessing Hospital with injuries ranging from minor to serious.
