Keokuk high school students get glimpse into possible career fields

KEOKUK, Ia. (WGEM) - Some Tri-States high school students may now be able to answer the age-old question, "What do you want to do when you grow up?"

Students got to hear what a day in the life is like from people like an accountant, tattoo artist, emergency response crews and a cosmetologist at career day Wednesday.

Students say the experience gave them an insight into a variety of career fields.

"It kind of helps you get more information on the jobs around and if you already know what you want to be, it helps you get more information on that," Jonina Jensen said.

"Cosmetology was my favorite session because I found it very interesting and I learned a lot," Audrey Morgan said.

Some of the students conducted on-camera interviews to get hands-on experience of what it's like to work in TV from WGEM's Andy Devine as who was one of the speakers as well.
