Culver's helps students and community members raise money

Posted:
QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) - A Quincy restaurant has become part of the effort to help the ongoing recovery of a Quincy University student.

Culver's on Broadway donated ten percent of its profits from a four hour period Wednesday to Shannon Peters, who was hit by a car while crossing the street last year.

Organizers say the money raised will help pay for her medical expenses. They say the community outreach has been outstanding.

"There's a lot of support from every angle, not just from people at QU, but the community in general. People have been in full support, businesses are willing to help and donate, which really makes this so much easier and shows that this whole community is impacted, not just QU," student Ashley Cahill said.

QU students will hold two more events for Shannon this week: Thursday at Texas Roadhouse, and then a color run style 5K this Saturday.
