The Hancock County Sheriff's Office arrested eight people in four locations Friday morning on conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine.

According to Hancock County Sheriff Scott Bentzinger, authorities arrested Willie J. Boyer, 31, of Niota at his residence and Jared A. Schiedel, 27, in Fort Madison with the help of U.S. Marshals.  Both are charged with conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine.

Rodney L. Monroe, 37, of Niota, was arrested for possession of meth manufacturing material after a search warrant was served at 507 Arbor St in Niota.

Another search warrant was served at 103 West Drake in LaHarpe which resulted in the arrest of Melissa A. Squire, 37, and Shane A. Taft, 28, both of LaHarpe.  Along with William W. Carey, 23, of Mt. Sterling,  Brian J. Slowick, 42, of Nauvoo and Tim W. Fye, 40, of LaHarpe.  All five face charges of participation of meth manufacturing.

Authorities say a meth lab was discovered in the residence on West Drake.  Carey attempted to avoid apprehension by breaking out a window and running from deputies.  He was taken into custody after a brief foot chase.

Hancock County authorities say this is an on-going investigation and more arrests are anticipated.
