PHILADELPHIA, Mo. / HANNIBAL, Mo. (WGEM) -- Reed Plunkett acknowledges the challenge that lies ahead.

And the Marion County senior embraces the fact he certainly won't be the tallest player at the next level.

With that said, he's ready to roll.

Plunkett signed his national letter of intent with the Culver-Stockton basketball program on Thursday morning after what was a remarkable four-year run with the Mustangs.

"There was challenges at the high school level and I'm excited for the challenges (at college). I think it will be fun to try and improve and get better to see what I can do," Plunkett said.

"It's really close to home and Coach (Jack) Schrader seems like a really good fit for me. I can go home (because) I like to spend time there and my sister is (at Culver-Stockton) so I won't be alone and it's a fun environment."

Reed joins his sister Randi Lee who's a sophomore guard for the Lady Wildcats.

Elsewhere, Hannibal track and field standout Rachel Davis took the next step in her career Thursday afternoon by choosing to take her distance running skills to Columbia College.

"This is a big deal for me and it's very exciting," Davis said.

"It's great to be able to sign to college and I feel like I've ran well enough to be good enough for college. The biggest is just trying to keep up with school, sports, and everything, but I feel I'll be able to do it."

Davis says her focus at Columbia will continue to be on the 800 meters, as well as both the one mile and two mile.
