Illinois Veterans Home resident pulled from lake

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) - A resident at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy was pulled from a lake on the property Friday afternoon.

Business Manager John McPherson told WGEM News that a man was pulled from the lake safely just after 1:30 p.m. He fell into the lake while on a motorized wheelchair.

Quincy Fire Captain Mark Bigelow says the man was helped out of the water  by someone nearby before his crews arrived.

The man was taken to Blessing Hospital to get checked out.
