Driver killed in Hancock County crash

NIOTA, Ill. (WGEM) - Authorities say a man was killed Monday morning after turning his truck in front of an oncoming minivan.

Illinois State Police say Frank Palm, 63, of Niota, was driving westbound on Highway 96 near County Road 1120 around 11:10 a.m Monday.  When taking a left turn, Palm was struck by an oncoming minivan driven by Amber Armitage, 33, of Dallas City.

The two vehicles collided head-on.

Palm was not wearing a seatbelt and was killed in the crash. Armitage suffered serious injuries and was taken to Blessing Hospital by air.

According to a release, no charges are pending.
