Lewis County man arrested for animal abuse

LEWIS COUNTY, Mo. (WGEM) - A Lewis County man was arrested Tuesday after over 30 dead animals were found on his property.

Lewis County Sheriff David Parrish says Kirby Clark, 57, of rural Canton, is charged with one count of animal abuse and 31 counts of failure to properly dispose of dead animals.

According to Parrish, deputies found 28 dead cows in a small pond while conducting a search warrant March 21 at Clark's farm. They found four more dead cows in other areas of the farm.

Clark was released after posting 10 percent of his $10,000 bond.

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Missouri Department of Agriculture.
