Man accused in New Year's party stabbing asks for new judge

MONROE CITY, Mo. (WGEM) - A Mexico man accused of stabbing a man at a New Year's Eve party in Monroe City asked for a new judge Thursday.

Nathaniel Beauchamp asked Judge Rachel Bringer Shepherd for a new judge during an arraignment hearing. Bringer Shepherd granted the request, which will now be forwarded to the Office of State Courts Administrator for reassignment.

The Monroe City Police Department was called to a residence Jan. 1, 2013 just after midnight. Officers found a 23-year-old man with a stab wound.

Beauchamp was later arrested after authorities found him driving on Highway 24. Officers say he had blood on his shirt and hands when they arrested him.
