Man injured in partial cave-in

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) - One man was injured after a partial cave-in at an underground warehouse.

It happened at about 9:40 Sunday morning at a warehouse on Gardner Expressway, near JM Huber and ADM processing. Firefighters say the actual warehouse is owned by Kohl.

According to the Tri-Township Fire Department, workers were making repairs to that section of roof, when a large piece of rock fell, trapping one of the men. Firefighters say the other workers told them the rock weighed approximately 3,000 pounds.

The other workers were able to get the trapped man out by the time firefighters arrived.

That man was taken by ambulance, but officials say the extent of his injuries are unknown.

Firefighters say an inspector arrived on scene to verify it was safe before anyone else went in.
