Keokuk YMCA kicks off annual campaign

KEOKUK, Ia. (WGEM) - Officials at the Hoerner YMCA in Keokuk are kicking off their annual campaign to get more people involved in their programs this year.

YMCA board members and volunteers are starting a two-month-long fundraising event.

The money raised will be used to help provide scholarships and reduced rates for people who want to become members, but don't have the financial means.

Officials say they especially want to concentrate on attracting local kids to the YMCA.

"No child is turned away," CEO Jamie Veach said. "We like to say that any child that comes in we want to make sure that however possible we get them into the building. We get them to partake in the activities here at the Y."

They hope to raise $20,000 to $30,000.  If you would like to donate, you are encouraged to contact the YMCA.
