Fishing for Freedom kicks off this weekend

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) - The fourth annual Fishing for Freedom event in Quincy kicks off on Friday to help raise money for wounded warriors.

The event begins with warrior and boater sign-up from 2 to 4 p.m. at Clat Adams Park.

A fish fry for participants and volunteers runs from 4 to 8 p.m.

The event is then open to the public at 8:30 p.m. with live music from the Aaron Stark Band.

On Saturday the event continues with the Heroes banquet at 5 p.m. at the Oakley Lindsay Center. Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door.

Sunday's events are free to the public starting at 11 a.m. Boaters will weigh in at noon. The event includes kids' activities, food vendors and entertainment provided by Quincy's Big Band.
