Bellis to fill vacated board seat

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) - Adams County Board Chairman Les Post says he will nominate former board member Dave Bellis to fill the seated vacated by Mike McLaughlin.

Post says the nomination will be voted on at next Tuesday's board meeting. McLaughlin resigned last month after accepting a job offer at Two Rivers Regional Council.

Bellis was also chosen by the Adams County Republican Central Committee to replace McLaughlin on the November ballot, according to Post. He was chosen over Kevin Rankin and Rob Ebbing at a meeting Thursday night in Quincy.

Bellis previously served on the Adams County Board from 2002 to 2008. He resigned from the position because he moved out of the district. Bellis also had an unsuccessful run for Quincy mayor in 2009.

McLaughlin, who served on the county board since 1989, was previously the operations manager at Neece Office Equipment Inc. He is now the executive director at Two Rivers.
