Yacht club makes life jackets available to families

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) - The Quinsippi Yacht Club wants to make sure everyone stays safe while out on the water this summer.

The club is making life jackets available for free at the Quincy Park District gas docks in Art Keller Marina.
Those needing a life jacket can leave a deposit and borrow a jacket for the day.

Vicki Ebbing with the yacht club says it's important everyone has a vest on the water.

"As a boat owner, you have to have the right number of life jackets available in your boat according to the size of your boat," Ebbing said. "So most people have them, but every now and then, you have someone show up that you weren't expecting or soemsomething you need an extra life jacket and we have those here."

The gas docks in Art Keller Marina are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week during the summer months.
