Experts say businesses should implement wellness plans

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) - Healthcare is one of the biggest expenses for business owners across the Tri-States.

Experts say there's some steps businesses can take to help reduce the burden. That was the topic at the Tri-State Wellness Summit in Quincy Friday.

Speakers talked about the importance of having a wellness plan at the workplace to help improve health and overall morale at a company.

The keynote speaker and health and wellness consultant Krisna Hanks says some major components of a wellness program should promote healthy eating, physical activity and stress relievers like meditation.

"A wellness program goes through phases," Hanks said. "You design it, you put the pieces together, you implement it, you evaluate it and how you get people to participate is through your efforts in the activities you organize. You might have a coordinator on site."

The summit continues Saturday and the topics will include eating healthy, yoga and meditation.
