Quincy traffic crashes see a spike from 2013

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) - The numbers are out, and Quincy Police say traffic crashes are up across the city.

According to the Quincy Police Department, there have been 526 traffic accidents so far in 2014. That's up 25 from this time last year.

Topping the list of the most accident prone intersections are 36th and Broadway and 4th and Broadway. Both intersections had five accidents in the month of May.
Drivers say they aren't surprised to hear 36th and Broadway continues to top the list.

"I would say people get cut off at the intersection on a daily basis, people are very careless in that," Fallon Woodmansee said.
"It's ridiculous," Kristi Shipe said. "I feel like people have their turn signals on and go to turn in one lane and then cross over into the next one."

The crash report also finds Friday is the most common day of the week for accidents.
