MCDONOUGH COUNTY, Ill. (WGEM) - An 86-year-old man from Good Hope, Illinois died from injuries he suffered when a truck hit his tractor hay rake, throwing him off.

According to Illinois State Police, the crash happened just after 4:30 Tuesday afternoon on US 67 near County Road 1800 North.

Robert Goodpasture was driving the DX5 utility tractor, pulling a rotary hay rake when a truck, driven by Donald Hawkins, 48, of Monmouth, hit the hay rake. It made the tractor swerve violently, and Goodpasture fell off. Police say Hawkins was distracted and did not see the tractor.

Goodpasture was taken to a Peoria Hospital with serious injuries.

Hawkins wasn't injured.
