Teachers learn how to get kids college-ready

Educators from around Missouri were in Hannibal Tuesday to talk college and career readiness.

The Northeast Missouri Development Partnership hosted its Workforce Development Symposium at Hannibal-LaGrange University.

They discussed challenges facing young students and how to properly prepare and teach them.

Kristie Davis, with the Pathways to Prosperity Network, says she hopes those in attendance develop the skills to be successful.

"Looking at the assets of northeast Missouri and the state, as well and looking at college and career readiness and making sure students are college and career-ready when they graduate from high school," Davis said.

Superintendents from 25 northeast Missouri counties, along with business leaders and state legislators, were on hand to hear from Harvard graduates during presentations and panel discusssions.
