Fireworks sales are popping off this year, and not just because of the Fourth of July holiday.
Fireworks Superstore owner Tom Marx, of Hannibal, says he's seen an increase in the number of people buying fireworks this year. He says the weather has been in his favor. Since there's been more moisture and not very many area burn bans, he says it's helped keep business steady.
"Business is pacing very well," Marx said. "People are out shopping and we have a lot of out-of-staters coming for their Fourth of July fireworks purchase."
People aren't just buying sparklers. Marx says more folks are going for the bigger fireworks like multi-shot cakes and artillery shells this year.
