Ursa Farmers Coop in Meyer, Illinois prepares for flooding

MEYER, Ill. (WGEM) - In Meyer, Illinois, efforts are underway to protect the grain elevator for river flooding.

Roger Hugenberg, General Manager of Ursa Farmers Coop, says the company's flood plan has been activated. On Thursday, workers were on site using a skidder to dump sand into new military style sandbags.

Hugenberg says their flood plan includes moving grain and other key assets.

"We stopped taking grain yesterday,” Adrianne Wollney, with Ursa Farmers Coop in Meyer said. “So that we can get this built up. In case it does flood."

Roger Hugenberg says they are concerned, but he thinks the flooding will be manageable. As long as they don’t receive additional rain.
