Funds are now available in Quincy and Macomb for cooling assistance programs.
The LIHEAP Summer Energy Assistance Program opens for applications from July 7 until July 23, or until the limited funds run out.
The programs are for low-income and at-risk households. At risk households include people older than 60, children younger than 5, people with disabilities and people with medical issues worsened by heat. Households must meet income guidelines to be eligible.
Applications require social security cards for all household members, proof of gross household income for the past 30 days and a current electric bill.
Those in need can apply at Two Rivers Regional Council by calling an area office for an appointment in Adams County at 224-8171; Brown County, 773-3141; Pike County, 285-5424; Schuyler County 322-6916. Or contact Becky Pruden for additional information at 224-8171 ext. 104.
Residents of Hancock, Henderson, McDonough and Warren counties can call the WIRC- Community Action Agency at (309) 837-2997 for an appointment or more information.
