New pizza place opens in Quincy

Quincy pizza lovers have a new restaurant in town.

Rizzo's Pizza has recently opened on South 36th Street in the former home of Firehouse Pizza.

Owner David Ritzo, a professional chef, decided to make the move to Quincy to be closer to his hometown of Jacksonville. Ritzo says he's not too concerned about competition with other well-established pizza places in town.

"We're not trying to directly compete with some of these institutions," Ritzo said. "We're just here just to try to offer our product, and we hope that people are receptive and like to try us. I think when I put out a good product and people enjoy our pizza, that they'll come to us."

Ritzo says he's always liked Quincy, and when a business partner found a location that was a ready-to-open pizza business, he jumped on the opportunity. He says so far, business has been good, and hopes word gets around, more people will try it out.
