Sawyer's Creek re-opens after flooding shut it down

HANNIBAL, Mo. (WGEM) - Flooding caused some businesses across the Tri-States to shut down during a peak tourism season, and Saturday one of those re-opened.

Sawyer's Creek in Hannibal opened its doors Saturday after being closed for almost a week due to flooding in the parking lot.

Employees say the the flooding didn't only hurt the business' bottom line.

"Not only does it hurt the business in general, but it also hurts our employees because obviously we have a lot of adults and kids that depend on this job throughout the summer to make as much money as they can to before they go back to school or before we shut down for the winter season," Jeanne Youngwirth said.

The lower parking lot is still underwater and employees say they will continue the clean-up on it when water starts to recede.
