Local travel agents say now is the time to book last minute vacation deals

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) - If you're still looking to book a last minute summer getaway, local travel agents say this week is the time to do it.

Mecki Kosin with the Travel House of Quincy says they still have plenty of deals available this summer.

Kosin says many popular vacation destinations like New York, San Francisco and Florida still have spots open.

"We've even found last week some Alaska Cruise space," Kosin said. "That is a very very limited place because there are only so many ships allowed up there and it's such a short season. So everything is possible, but you have to be very flexible at this point."

However, Kosin says if you're looking to book a tropical vacation, those spaces are filling up fast.

"Space on the non-stop flights is just about gone," Kosin said. "We can still get you to Cancun or to Jamaica or to one of those tropical destinations, but you probably will have to do some airport hopping."

Kosin says booking trips for two to three people right now is your best bet at getting the trip at the cheapest price.
