Hannibal City Council approves media budget for Hannibal Convention and Visitors Bureau

The Hannibal City Council approved a plan to spend big money in hopes of bringing more people to America's Hometown.

The Hannibal Convention and Visitor's Bureau got the green light to spend up to $100,000 in advertising.  The goal is to promote Hannibal in a variety of different ways, and Director Gail Bryant said there are advantages to getting the Hannibal name out in the region.

"We are reaching out to new markets during the summer," Bryant said.  "We focus on St. Louis, Springfield and Columbia and then in the fall, everyone goes South so we certainly look into the Northern states and get those markets to come in for the winter."

The city council also approved spending $18,000 for senior meals and related services with the Hannibal Nutrition Center, as well as entering into a ten year service agreement with the Y-Men's Club on the Y-Men's Pavilion.
