Slot machine problem temporarily closes casino

Posted: Updated:

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Lumiere Place Casino is open again following a system failure with the St. Louis casino's slot machines.

The casino says the problem happened about 8 p.m. Wednesday, making it difficult to pay out slot machine winnings. There were reports of long lines of patrons waiting to collect their money. People were being paid manually before the problem was corrected.

The casino floor shut down around midnight Thursday and remained closed until 6:30 a.m.

The casino says it is unsure why the slot machines stopped working.
