QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) - Police say the man responsible for hitting several parked cars Friday morning on Quincy's north side was driving a stolen car.

Quincy police say Richard Russell, 35, of Windermere, Florida, hit at least five parked cars in the 600 block of Elm Street just before 4 a.m. Friday. Officers say he was driving a 2005 Ford Taurus that was stolen from the area of 9th and Broadway streets.

Officers found a 2005 Ford Taurus at the intersection of 6th and Maple streets. The car was running, but no one was in it.

Witnesses told police a man got out of the car just before police got there. Officers found Russell at 8th and Sycamore streets and arrested him.

Russell is charged with burglary to a motor vehicle.
