QPD warning residents of computer repair scam

The Quincy Police Department is warning residents of scam involving computer repair.

Detective Adam Gibson says several complaints have received regarding a calls where the caller claims to be from Microsoft or some other computer company. The victims are told they have viruses and must send money to have it repaired.

The scammers can also access their victim's computer remotely when given permission.

Gibson says if you receive one of these calls, you should not give out any information and just hang up the phone.
