QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -
A five-year-old child was hospitalized after being involved in a car accident with his mother.
Deputies with the Adams County Sheriff's Office say 25-year-old Sonya Dean was heading north on Highway 57, when she crossed over into the southbound lane and through the parking lot of SEM's Minerals.She then hit a ditch, went over the railroad tracks, and hit a telephone pole.
Dean told deputies that she blacked out.
The five-year-old was treated at Blessing Hospital for facial injuries.
Dean was ticketed for not properly securing him in the appropriate child restraint.
