Turned Leaf Festival provides family friendly fun

La Crosse, WI (WXOW) -

The Turned Leaf Family Festival provided a family friendly and alcohol free environment Saturday.

The growing event has been going on for more than 30 years, providing food, crafts, raffles, a bounce house, and more.

It's sponsored by the Coulee Council on Addictions and was initially started to provide a safe space for those recovering from drug or alcohol abuse.

"It's really an opportunity for people to celebrate the fall, to celebrate Oktoberfest, but not have to be at the Oktoberfest grounds," said Executive Director Cheryl Hancock, "and for some people, that can be a trigger or really unsafe environment for them, especially if they are early in recovery."

The event runs until 10 p.m. tonight at the Myrick Park Main Shelter. All the proceeds from the event goes back towards the event and the Coulee Council on Addictions.
