Work on a troubled bridge in Marion County, Missouri, continues and ahead of schedule.
The 92-year-old Wennecker Bridge was closed in June because it was deteriorating, too narrow, and was listed by MoDOT as a deficient bridge. Marion County Presiding Commissioner Lyndon Bode said the bridge is about halfway done and could re-open sooner than expected.
"I know it's been really hot this summer, but for construction, that's a good thing," Bode said. "We have been able to work everyday and construction crews have been moving right along. We've seen good progress."
The bridge is expected to be finished by September.
