HANNIBAL, Mo. (WGEM) -

Summer projects are in full swing for the Hannibal School District.

Officials said work is wrapping up on the parking lot in front of the middle school. A new roof will also be put on Krof Gym. Business manager Rich Stilley said crews have been working on adding new doors to main entrances to all of the schools.

Stilley said the new doors will require guests to be buzzed in before entering the school, which adds another layer of security.

"We'll be able to make sure we have proper I.D., find out who they are and why they're there," Stilley said. "It keeps them out of the weather as well. We'll buzz them in to the central area, and then they'll have to be buzzed into the office to sign in as a visitor."

Stilley says all of the projects should be complete by the time school begins on August 17th.
