Keokuk man facing drug, weapon charges

KEOKUK, Ia. (WGEM) -

A Keokuk man was arrested Saturday on several drug charges, according to police.

In a news release Tuesday, Lee County Narcotics Task Force Unit Commander Jay Whitaker stated Tyrell D. Smith was arrested in the 500 block of Concert Street on the following charges:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance (amphetamine/dextroamphetamine) With Intent to Deliver While In Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine Less than Five Grams While in Possession of A Firearm
  • Possession with intent to Deliver Cocaine While in Possession of a Firearm
  • Carrying Weapons
  • Possession of a Schedule IV Drug (Alprazolam) with intent to Deliver

Whitaker stated the arrest was following a traffic stop by Keokuk Police. He stated during the stop, items supporting the charges were found.
