Fort Madison Community Hospital CEO resigns

The president/CEO of Fort Madison Community Hospital resigned Monday, according to a news release.

The release stated the board of trustees accepted the resignation of Pat Bira effective July 31. It said Jeremy Alexander, Vice President, Finance, will fulfill the role until an interim is named.

“While Pat has only been with Fort Madison Community Hospital for a short time, FMCH benefited from his over thirty years of experience," said Board Chair Bob Bonta. "We thank him for his dedication to our organization and appreciation of the culture of quality that persists here.”

Vice president of Quorum Health Resources said an interim president/CEO will be named in the next few weeks. Then a national search will be conducted to find a permanent replacement for the position.

The reason for Bira's resignation was not given.
