Woman arrested for attacking victim in her home

QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -

A woman was arrested on numerous charges after police said she went into a woman's home in Quincy and assaulted her.

Just before 6 p.m. Wednesday, Quincy Police said Katie Mickels, 32, of Hannibal was driving south in the northbound lane on North 12th St. when she drove up onto the curb, hit a street sign, and ran from the scene.

Officers said they then got several calls from people about a woman matching Mickels description trying to get into their homes.

Police said at 8:25 p.m. officers were called to a home in the 1400 block of North 15th St. The victim told police an unknown woman came into her home and attacked her. Police said Mickels was responsible for the assault.  The woman refused medical treatment.

At 8:45 p.m., an officer spotted Mickels and chased her down and arrested her.

Mickels was arrested for home invasion, meth possession, leaving the scene of an accident, and resisting a peace officer.
