Arrest made in stolen statue case from Railroad Park

Police have arrested two in connection with the stealing of a bronze statue from a Donnellson, Iowa park.

West Point-Donnellson Police Chief Brad Roberts said he obtained an arrest warrant on August 1. 

Skylah Beach, 25, of Burlington, Iowa was arrested at her home on August 2.She was charged with 2nd degree theft, class D felony. That charge carries a maximum penalty of 5 year imprisonment. 

Police also arrested Michael Crall Jr, 32, at his home in Burlington, Iowa. 

On July 23, police received reports of the stolen statue known as "Lazy Days," that is valued at over $4000.

In a press release, officers said that Beach and Crall tied a chain around the statue and drug it from its location to a gravel road in Lee County where the statue was broken into pieces.

Then they drove to a scrap recycling center in Mt. Pleasant where they was given checks for the items.

Beach is currently at the Lee County Jail where she is being held until she sees a judge. 

West Point-Donnellson Police Department was assisted by Van Buren County Sheriff's Office, the Henry County Sheriff's Office, and the Lee County Attorney's Office.
