PAYSON, Ill. (WGEM) -

The 124th annual Payson Old Settlers Picnic was a lot of fun Saturday morning.

The day started with the parade down State Street with a bunch of different floats made by community members.

The theme for the day was villains and super heroes and people saw a lot of good costumes on display in the parade.

Residents said this is one of the best weekend events in the area and the kids had fun too.

"The candy. because it's delicious and I got a popsicle,"  Christian Rabe said.

"Being with family and all of the friends in the community," Charlotte Waack, said "The best part of the parade is the floats and all of the work that they have put into it."

WGEM's and Payson, Illinois native Natalie Will was the emcee of the event.
