QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -

If you need a job, a Tri-State college has a career path you may want to consider.

Officials at John Wood Community College held an information session Monday night for their truck driving course.

The training lasts eight weeks at the Workforce Development Center.

In the end, Lead Instructor Phil Steinkamp said it'll put students to work, and possibly lower the nationwide trucking shortage.

Steinkamp estimated that there are around 115,000 job openings.

"They help people to earn a good wage, and a career choice with benefits." Steinkamp said. "It's not like minimum wage and zero benefits."

Steinkamp added that there are still spots available in the upcoming class.
