QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -

From backpacks to notebooks to haircuts and dental exams, going back to school could be a financial burden for parents.

On Saturday, the annual Back to School Help Fair took all that stress away and gave families exactly what they needed.

"Going back to school can be really costly so we are trying to do everything we can to make it as efficient as possible and make the whole process of heading back to school as easy as possible," said Emergency Response Coordinator at the Adams County Health Department, Jeremy Ledford.

Buses shuttled kids from First Baptist Church in Quincy where they got their backpacks to the Adams County Health Department where they received dental screenings and sports physicals.

Montana Burns  was one of the parents who attended. Burns has been on disability for nine years and said getting her two kids back to school can be stressful.

"It's a financial burden to try to put the kids in school every year and know you don't have the money to be able to supply them with all the things they need for school," said Burns.

Burns said she shes grateful for all the resources the fair offered.

"I would probably put on the same shoes and clothes and book-bag that daughter had on last year. I would probably have to send her to school without the school supplies.

There will be another festival in the winter to get kids ready for the second half of the school year.
