QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -

Illinois Department of Transportation said starting Monday, a bridge replacement project will close a well traveled road.

The bridge is located just north of 24th street and Wismann Lane over Cedar Creek.

Officials expect the project to last until late November.

Crews have placed advanced warning signs and message boards to notify drivers of the road closure and detours.

Officials say driver can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through the area.

Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zone, obey posted speed limits, and be alert for workers and equipment.

The $1.16 million project is County Contractors Inc. of Quincy.
