KEOKUK, Ia. (WGEM) -

The annual Labor Day Parade in Keokuk brought thousands of people to the city Monday morning.

Downtown Keokuk was packed with families as they watched the labor day parade roll down Main Street.

Community organizations, schools, and local law enforcement walked down the street, greeting families and tossing out candy.

Many residents were out early, picking the perfect spot to watch the parade.

People of all ages said it's nice to see the community come together to enjoy the weather and time with family.

"It's fun," Kinzie Manwill said. "Today we didn't have school because of the Labor Day parade and we decided to come here and have a good time."

"It's wonderful," Duane Souder said. "We get to see the union people, the democrats and republicans are in the parade, as well as the ministry folks."

Officials said it's one of the biggest Labor Day parades in the Tri-States.

There were more than 100 entries this year.
